NEPC Youth Export Program. a minimum of 2000 youths will receive crucial skills and expertise in the non-oil export sphere. Nepc in collaboration with zeenab foods limited launches the Youth for export program (YEP) Promoting youth inclusiveness in non oil export.
The ground-breaking “Youth for Export Program” has been introduced by the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC). in a decisive move to address the enduring problem of young unemployment and economic empowerment. With the ambitious goal of enlisting a minimum of 2000 youths and providing them with crucial skills and expertise in the non-oil export sphere, this strategic initiative is ready to tap into the untapped potential of the nation’s youth population.
The shrewd NEPC executive director Ezra Yakusak spoke with strong confidence during the program’s introduction. He emphasized that the program’s main goal is to give participants actual exposure to the intricate workings of export business operations. This would ultimately open up employment opportunities and stimulate inclusive economic growth and development.
The alarming data released by the National Bureau of data (NBS) in 2022, which showed that a startling 53.40 percent of Nigeria’s youth population was still unemployed, were effectively cited by Yakusak. In light of this difficult reality, the introduction of the Youth Export Programme represents a deliberate solution intended to reduce the growing problem of youth unemployment. As a result of a variety of challenges, he also openly criticized earlier entrepreneurial efforts that sought to hire young people for their shortcomings.
“Knowledge gaps in export business; poor access to finance; limited access to markets; inadequate trade information; complex regulatory processes; bureaucracy of business documentation and procedures; lack of technical support services and absence of internship programs required to strategically position the youths into the global export culture, among others,” Yakusak noted.
The executive director went on to explain that the non-oil industry has presented substantial obstacles for Nigerian youths, severely limiting their potential. The creative Youth for Export Program was created by NEPC in a calculated effort to overcome these difficulties. This initiative, which is firmly rooted in the Council’s “Export for Survival” campaign, is painstakingly created to overcome these major obstacles by mainstreaming youth involvement in the non-oil export sector.
Yakusak addressed the program’s primary agenda’s numerous goals with great passion. With the help of the Youth for Export Program, Nigerian youth can effectively participate in the export value chain by receiving the crucial training and skills required. In addition, it is planned to provide a dynamic platform that demystifies the common fears related to export procedures, encouraging young entrepreneurs to feel confident. Additionally, this project offers up-and-coming artists a singular platform to demonstrate their abilities, strengthening their capacity to compete in the vast and profitable export market.
