SPW Second Payment: Labour Minister Festus Keyamo Gives Update

After the order from Federal Government to begin payment of the second tranche of stipends of N20,000 to each of the 774,000 participants in its Special Public Works (SPW) programme, some applicants have started enjoying the glory while some are yet to receive most especially the Zenith Bank users.

Today, the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo clears the air that the delay in payment was due to multiple accounts with same BVN.

“After eliminating the issue of multiple accounts with same BVN and other anomalies as directed by my office, I can confirm that Zenith Bank has started paying SPW participants today. For those who have not received, they will DEFINITELY be paid, if they are duly registered.

Hon Festus Keyamo added that the second payment of the programme will commence once the first participant is cleared.

“The second tranche of payments will not commence until everyone duly registered as participants of the programme have received the first tranche of payments. The monies aren’t with the banks. The CBN credits the accounts in the banks if the banks have put their houses in order”.
