Why Men Should Avoid Bathing With Hot Water

1. low sperm production and a poor sperm motility rate

Sperm cells are made to best survive in temperature of around 20-25 degrees Celsius, which is lower than normal body temperature (which is around 37 degrees Celsius).

Taking a hot water bath for much more than 30 mins can affect one’s ability to reproduce. The constant exposure to ‘moist heat,’ according to University of California researchers, can damage your fertility.

The study involved a group of guys who were accustomed to bathing in hot tubs or taking hot water baths on a regular basis. Over the course of a week, they were exposed to water at a greater temperature for at least 30 minutes. In comparison to those who were not exposed to this type of heat, their sperm samples revealed low sperm production and a poor sperm motility rate.

2. dry skin

Hot showers can dry out and irritate your skin. Schaffer says the hot water causes damage to the keratin cells that are located on the most outer layer of our skin — the epidermis. By disrupting these cells, it creates dry skin and prevents the cells from locking in moisture.
