Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has given all telecommunications operators in the country two weeks to block all SIM cards that are not registered with the National Identity Numbers (NIN) the Commission has said in a statement.

The Presidential New Media Assistant Bashir Ahmad says telecommunications operators (MTN, Glo, Airtel, 9Mobile and others) two weeks to block all SIM cards that are not linked with the National Identity Numbers (NIN), if already enrolled, dial *346# to retrieve your NIN.
“who are yet to enroll (for the NIN) and want to do so conveniently, can start the process online here; http://nimc.gov.ng then visit a nearest enrollment centre to complete the registration. See the centres across Nigeria; https://www3.nimc.gov.ng/nimc-enrolment-centres/… ENROLLMENT IS FREE!”
The NCC Director on Public Affairs, Dr Ikechukwu Adinde, the Nigerian Communication Commission had warned that failure of any Telecom operator complying with the directives, would attract stiff sanction including withdrawal of operating license.
