The first batch of 10,000 youths will receive training and start-up capital from the Imo State Government Accelerated Youth Empowerment programme before the end of the year.

This is according to His Excellency, Governor Hope uzodimma who addressed Imo youths who converged in their hundreds on the Imo state Government house Owerri on a “THANK YOU” visit to appreciate him for the release of the funds and ongoing youth empowerment programme in the state.
Gov. Uzodimma commended the youth for their commitments to advance their careers and skills by joining in the skill acquisition program.
He added that the progress and future of Imo State will depend on an empowered youth population and this has contributed to Government instituting programs that are geard towards the youth.
He urged them to use whatever Government will provide as start-up grants to build viable businesses that can become employers of labour and in the process stimulate the economy of the State.

Earlier on the Senior special assistant to the Governor on youth affairs Honourable Eric Uwakwe informed the Governor of the training of thousands of Imo youths in different skills, leadership, development and business management.
He gave the assurances of the youth to ensure that Government’s efforts yield the desired results.
