DG APPEALED TO CORPS ON SAFETY PROTOCOLS

The pandemic is a global challenge that must not be trivialized.

NYSC Director-General, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim, has appealed to Corps Members to adhere strictly to all the COVID-19 safety protocols as they commence their service year.

He stated this today while addressing the 2020 Batch ‘B’ Stream 1A Corps Members deployed to Edo State at the new NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Okada, Edo State.

“This is a very unique Orientation Exercise because of the COVID-19 pandemic. It has been a global phenomenon and Nigeria is not an exemption likewise NYSC,” he said.

Ibrahim stressed that the guidelines issued by the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 (PTF) and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) were effective in combating the pandemic.

The Director-General commended the Federal Government, the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 (PTF) and Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) for providing all the needed support for the safe reopening of Orientation Camps nationwide.

He urged the Corps Members to be diligent in all the four cardinal programmes of the NYSC namely; Orientation Course, Primary Assignment, Community Development Service and Passing-Out/Winding-Out, adding that they should emulate their predecessors by contributing towards promoting the unity and socio-economic development of the country.

Ibrahim was among dignitaries, who attended the swearing-in of the 2020 Batch ‘B’ Stream 1A Corps members at the new Camp with the Deputy Governor, Mr. Philip Shuaibu standing in for Governor Godwin Obaseki.

The Oath of Allegiance was administered on the 627 Corps Members comprising 314 males and 313 females by Justice AT Momodu on behalf of Edo State Chief Judge, Honourable Justice EA Idigin.
