Bayelsa State Government has ordered the suspension of salaries of staff of Ogbia Local Government Council who were absent from work on Thursday 19th November, 2020.
The state Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo gave the order when he paid an unscheduled visit to the Council Secretariat in Ogbia Town, headquarters of the Ogbia Local Government Area.

Senator Ewhrudjakpo, who expressed shock and displeasure at the level of absenteeism, directed all relevant authorities to ensure that, apart from the twenty three workers he met during the visit, salaries of other staff should be suspended till further notice.
He said the measure is to enforce discipline in the public service, stressing that the era where workers abandoning their offices but draw salaries at the end of month was over.
Senator Ewhrudjakpo who restated the present administration’s commitment to repositioning the local government system, which is under his supervision, warned workers to resist the temptation of abandoning their offices.
According to the Deputy Governor, he will pay more of such visits not only to assess the performance of the council chairmen and their staff but also ensure that people at the grassroots feel the impact of government.
