Applications are invited for the following positions below:

  1. Rector
  2. Polytechnic Librarian
  3. Bursar

Rector

Responsibilities

  • The Rector is the Chief Academic, Administrative and Accounting Officer of the Polytechnic, who is charged with the general responsibility of all matters relating to the day-to-day management and operation of the Polytechnic.

Requirements

  • Possess at least a Master’s Degree from a recognized institution, possession of a PhD will be an added advantage.
  • Shall be a Chief Lecturer with a minimum of five years experience on that rank from the Polytechnic system.
  • Have relevant qualifications and taught in a discipline available in the Institution.
  • Exhibit evidence of strong academic and administrative leadership.
  • Membership of relevant professional body/bodies.
  • Produce evidence of scholarly publications in reputable Journals as well as presentation of learned papers at educational conferences, seminars or workshops.
  • Must be proficient in Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
  • Demonstrate capacity to generate funds/research grants from donor agencies.
  • Provide evidence of medical fitness from a recognized hospital.
  • Be morally sound, of impeccable probity and integrity, free from financial embarrassment.
  • Must not be more than 60 years of age at the time he/she assumes duty.

Polytechnic Librarian

Functions & Duties
The Polytechnic Librarian is a Principal Officer of the Polytechnic and is responsible to the Rector for the day-to-day running/administration of the Polytechnic Library.

His/her functions shall include among others:

  • Responsible for the smooth running of the library,
  • Preparation of the Library budgets and estimates,
  • Responsible for the overall Library policy and liaising with other departments,
  • Engaging in matters of common interest to the Polytechnic,
  • Perform other duties that might be assigned by the Rector from time to time.

Qualifications & Experience
The candidate for the Polytechnic Librarian must:

  • Possess MLS (Library & Information Science) from a recognized Institution, plus at least 19 years cognate experience in Polytechnic Library, ten (10) of which must be at the Library management position.
  • Be a registered member of a recognized relevant professional body i.e. Librarian Registration Council of Nigeria (LRCN).
  • Have occupied the position of a Chief Librarian in an Institution of Higher Learning preferably in a Polytechnic.
  • Must not be more than 60 years of age at the time he/she assumes duty.
  • Produce evidence of scholarly publications in reputable Journals.

Bursar

Functions and Duties

  • The Bursar is a Principal Officer of the Polytechnic. He is the Chief Financial Officer of the Polytechnic and responsible to the Rector.
  • The Bursar plans, organises, directs and coordinates the operations of the financial system of the Polytechnic.
  • He is also expected to prepare financial reports of the Polytechnic including income and expenditure at every meeting of the Governing Council Finance and General Purposes Committee.
  • He is responsible for the production of draft annual estimates of income and expenditure, and determine all accounting procedures and records of the Polytechnic accounting system.

Requirements

  • Must be a holder of good Honors Degree or its equivalent in Accountancy or Finance, from a recognized Institution of higher learning.
  • Must be registered with a Professional body such as ICAN, ANAN, etc.
  • Master’s Degree will be an added advantage.
  • Must have at least 21 years post qualification cognate experience.
  • Must be proficient in Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
  • Must not be more than 60 years of age at the time he/she assumes duty.
  • Enjoy excellent physical and mental health with evidence from a Government Hospital.
  • Evidence of community service.
  • Perform other duties that might be assigned by the Rector from time to time.

Terms of Appointment
The successful candidates shall hold the office for a single tenure of five (5) years and no more in line with the Federal Polytechnics (Amendment) Act, 2019. The salary and other conditions service are as approved by the National Salaries and Wages Commission.
