American Visa Lottery Eligibility Requirements

The American Visa Lottery also know as Diversity Visa has a limited period of time during which you can register in a particular year to attend an interview at the embassy and then get a permanent residency or “Green Card” to enter the U.S. legally. The AVL  program is referred to as a “lottery” because it picks people randomly.

Overview:

The US Visa lottery, is also known as the Diversity Immigration Visa Program, it is open to receive applications from October to November yearly. However, there are countries which the US does not receive application from, they include; BANGLADESH, BRAZIL, CANADA, CHINA , COLOMBIA, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC, ECUADOR, EL SALVADOR, HAITI, INDIA, JAMAICA, MEXICO, NIGERIA, PAKISTAN, PERU, PHILIPPINES, SOUTH KOREA, THE UK ( except Northern Ireland) and VIETNAM.

People from excluded countries can apply with dual nationality in a country that does not appear on the list or if they are married to a citizen of a country that does not appear on the list of countries above. Also, you’re from countries that appear on the exclusion list but have obtained Spanish nationality, you can apply as well.

Nigerians are no longer eligible for the Diversity Visa Lottery. Only people that were born outside of Nigeria or have parents that were born outside of Nigeria are eligible for the Diversity Visa. If you were born in Nigeria to Nigerian born parents, you are not eligible for the visa lottery.

American Visa Lottery Requirements:

• Applicant must have completed high school education with a certificate to show for it.
• To be eligible, applicants ought to have worked for two years in the last five years in a job. That job must have requires two years of previous experience.
• If you have a previous criminal record or have resided in the USA illegally you could be disqualified
• A letter would be required of you; letter of job offer given to you from a company in north American. Mind you, the position you held must be in I line with you

The US Visa lottery can be accessed freely at www.state.gov. The website can also be used to get assistance whenever the application process becomes difficult for applicants.

Submit an Entry

Step 1. Applicant Submits an Entry at www.dvlottery.com

Step 2. The application list will be selected

Step 3. At this stage, the applicant would receive feed back If selected or not

Step 4. You then confirm your qualifications

Step 5. Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration Application would be required for submission

Step 6. All supporting documents should be submitted

Step 7. An Interview will be scheduled

Step 8. Then applicant prepares for the Interview

Step 9. Interview stage

Step 10. Post Interview stage

It is important to note that registration for the US lottery has a limited period of time during which you can register in a particular year. The Department of State yearly posts detailed instructions for entering the lottery program, this instructions include the dates of the registration period during which you will be able to enter.
